Visit to Tim Foden’s Apiary

Ann and I are looking forward to the visit from Warwick and Leamington Members on Sunday 13 July from 2.30pm onwards.  Car parking will be quite tight as we live down a cul-de-sac, so we have arranged car parking at “The Baby Barn” – a children’s equipment outlet at a local farm, which is a short walk mid-way beween our house and our out-apiary.

Marton is a village on the A423 road between Coventry and Southam.  If approaching from the North (Coventry) turn right into the village.  Turn left if approaching from the Long Itchington/Southam direction.  You enter North Street – continue past the Church on your right, follow the road to the left into High Street and proceed for approx 400 yards until you reach a fork in the road.  Those not going to the apiary (and you are very welcome) can be dropped off at this point.  Proceed on foot down the cul-de-sac on the right to our house – No 52.

Those attending the apiary should drive slowly up the left fork and park at the Baby Barn on the right hand side of the lane, then continue on foot up the lane as indicated.

At the apiary, Justus Klaar – our seasonal bee inspector -  will be present and I hope to show some queen rearing taking place, to implement a “Bailey comb change and to mark a queen.  These activities will be more practicable if you aim to arrive before 3pm.

Please bring something to share for tea.  The barbecue will also be available for your use.

Here’s hoping for some decent weather!!!!  Obviously we cannot predict the attendance level, but if the weather is nice, you may wish to bring portable chairs of some kind.
